However, in an increasingly unequal and unsustainable world, we often go beyond our three primary focus areas of Education, Empowerment, and Environment to ensure the sustainability of our communities and planet.

RYTHM’S FOCUS AREAS AND THE UN SDGs

RYTHM Foundation’s efforts to help underserved communities mirror several of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs we have adopted guide the projects and programmes we support and chart the strategic roadmap for the impact we want to create.

Maharani

Educate a Girl, Change the World

Throughout history, the central role of women in society has ensured the stability, progress, and long-term development of nations. Therefore, we must ensure that our girls are empowered to grow into confident, strong young women who become formidable forces for good.

Since its inception in 2010, the award-winning Maharani Programme has helped over 8,000 teenage girls from poor and underserved communities in Malaysia to navigate the challenges and vulnerabilities of adolescence through its various facets.

Maharani School Programme (MSP)

A curated curriculum in collaboration with Pintar Foundation to guide girls in selected national Malaysian schools towards setting their life goals and shaping their future.

Maharani Learning Lab (MLL)

We provide a safe space for deserving girls to learn about social dynamics, equality, and empowerment to become confident and strong women. Watch this space for MLL 2.0, coming soon!

Community Adoption Programme

Our Community Adoption Programme (CAP) kicked off in 2021 to address the deep-rooted inequalities and urgent needs of disadvantaged communities, including the indigenous, by empowering them to improve their living standards and become self-sufficient.

The programme’s initiatives include capacity building, academic support, vocational and skills training across all layers of the communities, and improved access to resources and funding to help them improve their lives.

Our projects in Malaysia’s Pahang and Sabah strive to resolve these inequities. In Pahang, RYTHM started ‘Sekulah Bateq’, a school for the children of the isolated Bateq tribe to learn essential reading, writing and arithmetic skills. In Sabah, RYTHM works with indigenous communities in three villages, providing children with educational support and youth and women with entrepreneurial guidance.
