Vision Statement - To make a difference in every life that we touch.
When the QI Group began in 1998, a diverse group of people of different nationalities and cultures came together for a common purpose. Their vision was to create something that would change the lives of people around the world. While the group came from diverse backgrounds, they shared a common value system, one that held them all together and guided their thinking. A man who is least likely to be considered a corporate icon was the one man all the members of the founding team unanimously admired and respected. The man whose teachings changed an entire generation of people around the world at a time when technology and communication had not turned the world into a global village - Mahatma Gandhi.
The man who created a whole new generation of leaders ranging from Martin Luther King to Mandela to Aung San Suu Kyi and whose core values and teachings resonated with every member of the founding team. Gandhi has since then been the icon of what eventually grew into the QI Group. And our core values are derived from his teachings of Truth, Service, Care and Raising Oneself.
These four pillars are melded into the mettle of the leadership that is being built at QI.
Truth to us also translates into education. The first thing that people should care to know about is the truth about themselves. Only then can they change or want to change or have a desire to change. Truth has translated itself into our training programs, our company literature and into all our communication. We have attempted also within the company to set up higher standards of the application of truth.
Service the second pillar is a fundamental value weaved into the fabric of our organisation. To be in a state of In-Service, one has to be in a state when one is constantly in service. This particular aspect of service is essentially a state of being. Hence, In-Service became a tagline which we inculcated into every company, every department, and all the way down to the customer service. And today to be In-Service in our company's culture is a statement of pride.
Care translated itself into RYTHM Foundation, which is an important aspect of the Group. We care about the communities we live in and do business in. RYTHM Foundation is the enabler for the Group's charitable endeavors and represents QI's spirit, compassion and dedication to serving the communities in which it operates around the world. Care, as per Gandhi's teachings is not just limited to fellow human beings. One of his guiding lights was the concept of ahimsa, a Sanskrit word which in the simpler sense means non-violence, but in the broader, more succinct sense means - all life is sacred. This translated into the practice of vegetarianism which he lived by, and propagated vehemently. The QI Group from its very inception has abided by this fundamental rule of all life being sacred and has remained vegetarian in all of its events, be it a corporate lunch, press events or feeding thousands at a convention. Vegetarianism is not a food choice nor is it a lifestyle statement or even a health preference; it is our statement that all Life is Sacred.
RYTHM or Raise Yourself To Help Mankind, the most important pillar of our house is the primary mission of the QI group. Ultimately, RYTHM in all its forms is about recreating the message of Gandhi which began half a century ago. RYTHM is the corporate heartbeat of the QI group of companies. It is the purpose of our existence and the motivation fuelling the growth of our organisation. It has continuously moved us on to higher standards and higher goals. It has kept us together while defining us from the rest of the planet.
These core values are the pillars that hold the QI house together and within the framework of this, the family has flourished and fanned out. Today, language nor culture, state nor stature, cast nor creed, size nor sensibility bar us from coming together. In many a case, members of the QI family feel themselves to be closer to those that they work with and those that they share their hopes, dreams and lives within our common goal - to achieve RYTHM, than members of their biological family.
The special magic is one that we attribute singularly to Mahatma Gandhi. And Gandhi's magic continues to weave its own special brand of miracles amongst us.
