QI Hong Kong won the Silver Award for the Largest Corporate Group Category in the 2012 Coastal Clean-Up Challenge. This achievement was made possible through the RYTHM Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the QI Group, which incorporates the conservation of the environment as one of its pillars.

QI Hong Kong topped the numbers of South China Morning Post (the bronze winner) and ran just a bit short of the gold winner- Nomura. A cocktail and awarding ceremony held in celebration of this achievement at Shore Bar & Restaurant in thepopular Queens Road, Central was graced by QI Hong Kong CSR Committee Chairman Jeannie Tan, HR & Admin Manager Eleanor Chan and QI HR Processes and Practices Manager Ikki Yuen. The event included an entertaining eco-fashion show featuring Hong Kong’s top models wearing recycled couture by renowned designer Karta Healy.

The team, which consisted of over 100 volunteers including Directors, managed to collect a total of 65 kg of garbage- wood, bottles, clothes, boxes and sacks during the event, after which they submitted their garbage data to the Hong Kong Clean-Up Organisation in the hopes of adding to the pool of knowledge about the surrounding waste in Hong Kong that is being shared with scientists, politicians and community members to further their efforts and studies on waste management.

QI Hong Kong’s achievement paves the way for further progress in the protection of the environment which will, no doubt, lead to cleaner, greener cities for everyone to live in.
