Quest International University (QIU) the educational arm of QI Group, continues to make significant strides in social impact through innovative research that addresses critical needs of vulnerable communities. The university’s recent achievements in Augmented Reality (AR) applications have earned prestigious recognition, demonstrating its commitment to leveraging technology for social good.

A team led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tilagavati Subramaniam recently secured a bronze medal at the ULUL ALBAB Innovation Competition Exhibition in Malaysia, for their AR Phonics project. This groundbreaking initiative introduces an innovative approach to teaching phonics using AR technology, creating an immersive learning environment for children with speech delays.

Building on this success, another QIU academic team clinched the champion title for “Best Exhibitor Award” at the Intervarsity Corporate-Academia Symposium (ICAS’24) & Pedagogy Innovators Showcase Competition (PISC). Their winning project, “Augmented Reality: Innovative Protection Against Sexual Harassment for Disabled Children,” utilizes the MAKAR application to empower disabled children with knowledge about personal safety and protection.

“Our research initiatives reflect QIU’s dedication to creating practical solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives,” says Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tilagavati Subramaniam, who has been instrumental in leading both award-winning projects. The cross-faculty collaboration between the Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Business and Management, and the Centre of Research and Innovation exemplifies QIU’s holistic approach to addressing social challenges.

These achievements embody the QI Group’s RYTHM philosophy – Raise Yourself To Help Mankind. Through these groundbreaking research projects, QIU demonstrates how academic institutions can be powerful vehicles for social transformation, turning the principles of RYTHM into tangible actions that empower vulnerable communities and create lasting positive change.
