The QI Group made a hugely significant investment in 2005, when we acquired UK Networks, the largest privately owned telecommunications company in Britain with a 17-year background. UK Networks, which at the time operated an entire switching network providing a full array of telecommunications services, was later renamed QIComm.
Recently, QIComm had the privilege of being featured in The Sunday Times Tech Track 100 special 10th anniversary edition, and we are proud to announce that the company is ranked 28, among Britain’s 100 fastest growing private technology, telecoms and digital media companies. Tech Track 100 is a supplement that is entirely researched and compiled by Fast Track, the leading networking company that focuses on Britain’s top performing private companies and entrepreneurs.
QIComm currently operates in countries such as Hong Kong, Philippines and Sri Lanka, and has seen sales rapidly increase 64 percent a year from an annualised £15.8 m in 2006 to £69 m in 2009. The company’s key customers include British Telecoms, the Ministry of Defence and various other overseas telecom providers such as Globacom in Nigeria. In the near future, the company has plans to establish a data centre in London’s Docklands to serve internet and telecom providers; become a virtual mobile network operator; and also further expand its business within the African region.
