Bringing Sustainability Into Everyday Workplace Habits
QI Group continued its efforts to make sustainable living more practical and accessible through its Plastic Free July refill initiative at QI Tower, Malaysia.
Led by the Group Corporate Sustainability Department in collaboration with Kita Refill, the initiative built on QI Group’s Earth Day refill activation and encouraged employees to reduce their reliance on single-use packaging through refill and reuse.
The initiative forms part of QI Group’s ongoing efforts to translate environmental awareness into practical workplace action.
Encouraging Refill and Reuse
Employees were encouraged to bring their own reusable containers to refill household and personal care products at the Kita Refill mobile station.
The initiative aligns with the QI Group Sustainability Framework centred on People, Planet & Principles, supporting waste reduction, responsible consumption and employee participation.
Alongside the refill station, employees also supported a plant sale featuring plants nurtured by Pre-Voc students from Taarana School, an initiative of RYTHM Foundation that supports children and young adults with special learning needs.
Turning Participation Into Measurable Impact
The Plastic Free July activation resulted in:
• 40 refill transactions
• An estimated equivalent of 66 one-litre single-use plastic bottles avoided
• 77 pieces of single-use packaging avoided
The results demonstrate the collective impact of making more sustainable choices accessible within the workplace.
Supporting Long-Term Workplace Sustainability
The Plastic Free July activation forms part of the bi-monthly Kita Refill programme at QI Tower, giving employees regular access to refill solutions and encouraging more sustainable everyday habits.
The initiative supports QI Group’s broader ESG Roadmap by embedding responsible consumption, waste reduction and sustainable workplace practices into everyday employee behaviour.
