Exploring Circularity Through Malaysian Craftsmanship
Merdekapenter 2026 was officiated by Guest of Honour YB Datuk Seri Dr Noraini binti Ahmad, Malaysia’s Minister of Plantation and Commodities, reflecting the growing focus on responsible materials and higher-value Malaysian products.

During a tour of The Green Factory, participants saw how materials, craftsmanship and circular thinking can be integrated into practical manufacturing processes. The experience highlighted how wooden pallets and other materials that might otherwise be discarded can be transformed and given a second life through thoughtful design and craftsmanship.

A hands-on woodworking session provided a closer look at the processes involved in turning materials into new products. Together, the activities demonstrated how responsible material choices and circular practices can contribute to more sustainable production and consumption.

Connecting Merdeka with Sustainable Progress
Against the backdrop of Malaysia’s Merdeka celebrations, the event also highlighted the role that local enterprise, home-grown innovation and responsible business can play in building a more resilient future.

Merdekapenter demonstrated how supporting Malaysian businesses and sustainable craftsmanship can contribute to economic progress while creating positive environmental and social value.

For QI Group, the engagement strengthens connections with Malaysia’s wider sustainability ecosystem. Participation in platforms such as Merdekapenter and the Green Factor Executive Circle creates opportunities to exchange perspectives, learn from emerging practices and explore solutions relevant to the Group’s sustainability journey.

From Sustainability Ambition to Action
QI Group’s sustainability direction places growing emphasis on circularity, responsible sourcing, practical implementation and stakeholder engagement. Experiences such as Merdekapenter offer first-hand perspectives on how these principles can be applied across materials, products and business practices.

By continuing to engage businesses, practitioners and industry networks, QI Group is strengthening the knowledge and connections needed to translate sustainability ambitions into meaningful action.
