At QI Group, we believe the future of communications isn’t just about adopting the latest technology — it’s about embracing it while staying true to what makes us human. That principle took centre stage at the recent “Driving Next-Level Communications Impact with AI” event in Singapore, hosted by Microsoft with Meltwater and Edelman.
Our Chief Communications Officer, Ramya Chandrasekaran, joined a panel of industry leaders for an open discussion on how AI is reshaping communications. The session brought together professionals grappling with similar challenges, eager to share practical experiences on what’s working, what still feels uncertain, and how we can move forward thoughtfully in a fast-evolving world.
AI is a Tool — But Human Judgment is Our Edge
One of Ramya’s key insights was a reminder not to let AI take over where human thinking matters most. Automation can make us more efficient, but we risk losing our judgment — the ability to read between the lines, sense the mood in a crisis, or shape a strategy rooted in real-world experience. These are skills that only humans can bring, and they must stay at the forefront of how we communicate.
No algorithm, no matter how advanced, can replicate our intuition, empathy, or understanding of context. The strongest communicators of tomorrow will be those who use AI to sharpen their instincts, not bypass them.
Culture Drives Adoption and Impact
The panel also explored how critical it is to build a culture that supports responsible AI adoption. Tools alone can’t transform an organisation; people do. That means building AI literacy at every level, with leaders setting the tone for ethical and impactful use. One standout example shared came from Meltwater, whose CEO personally coached employees on how to write stronger AI prompts, proving that cultural change starts at the top.
At QI Group, our Communications team is actively driving this shift. We’re integrating AI where it brings value while protecting the clarity, originality, and authenticity that define our brand. Our goal is to create an environment where AI fuels our creativity and frees our teams to focus on what truly matters.
Amplify, Don’t Replace
There was strong agreement on the panel that AI should amplify human capabilities, not replace them. Used thoughtfully, AI gives communicators the space to focus on high-impact work, like managing complex relationships, handling sensitive stories, and driving long-term reputation strategies.
At QI Group, our path forward is clear: we’ll harness the power of AI to deepen our mission and strengthen our human touch. Every innovation should sharpen our strategy, build stronger connections, and keep people at the heart of everything we do.
