QI Group’s Executive Chairman, Vijay Eswaran, was awarded the prestigious New Global Indian (NGI) award for philanthropy and business excellence at the Global Indian Business Meet (GIBM) 2012 in New York on 22 September, 2012.

It was an auspicious day for Eswaran as well as a day to be remembered by the QI Group collectively.

The award not only had a degree of personal meaning to Eswaran but also showed that his achievements as a “renowned Malaysian entrepreneur, author, speaker and philanthropist” undoubtedly deserved recognition.

The QI Group celebrates this accolade to Eswaran in elevating the status of the Group as a whole and in emphasising his core values and directives as a leader.

At the ceremony, Eswaran voiced his opinions on the subject of the Indian economy and the political landscape in India.

“While most Indians already know quite a bit about Malaysia, the award given to Vijay at this event has put Malaysia on India’s business radar,” said US-based Indian businessman Amit Khanna.

“Vijay’s presence will afford Malaysia an opportunity to enhance its visibility in the eyes of the increasingly influential and financial powerful Indian diaspora”, he continued.

The meet was organised by the New Global Indian Foundation and was themed Doing Business in Challenging Times – The Indian Way: Global Networking for Entrepreneurship and Inclusive Growth.

Eswaran’s past awards have been the Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Award 2012 as well as an award by Forbes Asia as one of the top 48 philanthropists.
