Prana Resort Nandana, a QI Group-owned boutique resort on the idyllic island of Koh Samui in Thailand, has been certified with a Gold rating for Green Hotel Standard by the Department of Environmental and Quality Promotion, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand.
The certification is categorised into Gold, Silver and Bronze levels, with the Gold Level representing the highest implementation standards. Green Hotel Award recipients undergo strict auditing criteria, with the Gold level scoring 80% and above.
The Award is presented exclusively to hotels and resorts that have demonstrated effective use of natural resources, promote energy efficiency according to guidelines of good practices, have conscientious environmental management, have shown improved standards of service by taking environmental issues into account and proactively prepare their business and property for standard ecological assessment at the international level.
Architecturally, the resort integrates traditional Thai craftsmanship with modern stylings, featuring soft lighting, high ceilings and undulating basketwork-inspired interiors, all woven together using indigenous materials. The resort is filled with lush gardens, tropical flora, and bamboo and rattan elements to organically blend with its natural surroundings while reflecting the influence of local culture.
Prana Nandana’s sustainability initiatives also include supporting local farmers by sourcing all produce for the hotel’s kitchen locally and regularly conducting beach cleaning activities with the local community to raise awareness about the harmful impact of polluting the ocean.
