In a recent press conference in Bahrain, QI subsidiary, QuestNet, announced its sponsorship of Team QI-Meritus.Mahara for the third year since the inception of the GP2 Asia Racing Series. The 2010 GP2 Asia series lines up 12 teams from all over the world and Team QI-Meritus.Mahara is the only team from Asia racing against other Europe-based teams.
Khaled Diab, General Manager for QuestNet Middle East General Trading L.L.C, said the team was excited and geared up to impress the crowds at the Bahrain GP2, which will be held at the Bahrain International Circuit on the 26th and 27th of February. “The team is currently placed fourth, and had it not been for the misfortune Luca Filippi experienced at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi earlier this month, the ranking would have been even more impressive. But that’s the nature of racing, and events over which nobody has control naturally impact on teams,” Diab said.
The press conference was part of a road show by QuestNet throughout the Middle East, to allow enthusiasts to experience the thrill of motorsport up-close and personal in their home cities. QuestNet and Team QI-MeritusMahara.com began the road show in December when they first travelled to Doha. Further visits included Jeddah, Riyadh, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and will be extended to Malaysia, Tajikistan, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania from April till July 2010.
