Representatives from QI Group, Quest International University and project partners take part in the Site Work Commencement Ceremony for the new QIU campus project in Gunung Lang, Ipoh.

QI Group’s long-term vision to build a purpose-built campus for Quest International University (QIU) in Ipoh, Malaysia, reached another important milestone with a Site Work Commencement Ceremony held on 10 June 2026 at the new campus site in Gunung Lang.

The ceremony was organised by Masuka Bina Sdn. Bhd., the appointed main contractor for the QIU campus project. It marked the commencement of site works for the development and brought together representatives from QI Group, Kami Builders Sdn. Bhd. (KBSB), QIU, the appointed consultants and other key project partners involved in delivering the new campus.

A Milestone For QI Group’s Education Vision
The new QIU campus represents a significant step in QI Group’s long-term commitment to education. The ESG-led purpose-built development is designed to support QIU’s future growth and provide an enhanced learning environment for students, combined with state-of-the-art laboratories in STEM education. Upon completion in early 2029, the campus will be awarded Green Building Gold award.

Recognising The Teams Behind The Project
During the ceremony, Kuna reflected on QIU’s 15-year journey in Ipoh and the significance of reaching this stage of the campus project. He noted that the development reflects QI Group’s confidence in the continued growth of the university and the wider community.

He also acknowledged the teams and partners who helped bring the project to this stage, including the investment and development teams led by Shekhar Balasubramaniam, the project management team headed by Raymond Cheah, the QIU leadership team, and the dozens of consultants and partners involved in shaping the campus development.

Professor Zita also spoke on behalf of QIU, describing the new campus as an important step in the university’s next era of growth. She said the purpose-built development will help address the constraints of QIU’s current facilities while creating space for high-demand programmes, modern research hubs, collaborative learning zones and stronger industry engagement. She also noted that the campus will support QIU’s ambition to attract talent, researchers and students from a wider international community.

Key Project Partners
The development is being delivered through the combined expertise of experienced project partners. Masuka Bina Sdn.Bhd., a subsidiary of Hunza Properties Berhad, is serving as the appointed main contractor, while ARX has been appointed Development Manager and Project Manager. Architectural design services are being led by Ong & Ong 360 Consultancy Sdn. Bhd.

Building QIU’s Future Campus In Ipoh
The site work milestone follows the successful establishment of QI Group’s RM300 million ASEAN Sustainability SRI Sukuk Programme, announced earlier this month to support the development of the new QIU campus. The programme reinforces the Group’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and investing in future-ready learning environments.
