At Quest International University (QIU), the education arm of QI Group, sustainability is embedded in institutional governance, academic delivery and operational decision-making, supported by structured oversight and performance-tracking mechanisms.
The QIU SDG Steering Committee Report 2025, the University’s annual sustainability report, documents how Quest International University aligns its institutional strategy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs). With annual reporting established since 2019, QIU has built a structured framework to monitor progress and strengthen its sustainability agenda over time.
Through its SDG Steering Committee and four strategic clusters covering Education, Research, Operations and Leadership, QIU integrates sustainability across institutional functions. The Committee provides defined oversight, cross-functional coordination and progress monitoring to ensure initiatives are sustained, refined and aligned with measurable objectives year-on-year.
Delivering Measurable Community Outcomes
In 2025, QIU advanced its priority SDGs through structured programmes aligned with health access, inclusive education, decent work, reduced inequality, climate action and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Across 13 blood donation campaigns conducted with healthcare partners in Malaysia’s healthcare ecosystem, 587 blood units were collected. Through its Soup Kitchen Initiative, 1,800 hot meals were served to underserved communities. Community health programmes addressed preventive care, medication management and musculoskeletal awareness, extending university expertise into the wider Malaysian community.
Environmental stewardship was strengthened through structured participation in World Cleanup Day activities along Sungai Angkat in Perak, Malaysia. On campus, a Sustainability Policy on Green Events formalised zero-waste protocols, reduced single-use plastics and advanced paperless event management. These measures reinforce the operational integration of sustainability principles across campus governance, community engagement and daily operations.
Strengthening Education for Future-Ready Talent
QIU’s long-term impact lies in preparing graduates who are equipped to lead responsibly within Malaysia’s higher education and innovation landscape.
Programmes such as the QIU STEM Challenge, NextGen Science 2025, financial literacy workshops and the “I Am a Girl, I Am an Engineer” initiative expanded access to STEM education, financial capability and career exposure for students and underserved groups.
By combining academic rigour with experiential learning and industry collaboration, QIU prepares socially responsible and sustainability-conscious graduates equipped for an evolving global economy.
Advancing Research with Societal Relevance
The 2025 sustainability report highlights a strong portfolio of SDG-aligned research across healthcare innovation, cancer pharmacology, antimicrobial resistance, plant biotechnology, artificial intelligence, clean energy and sustainable agriculture.
Many projects directly advance SDG 3 through improved drug-delivery systems, diagnostic technologies and clinical research. Others address food security, environmental resilience and digital innovation, reinforcing QIU’s role as both an educator and a knowledge contributor responding to real-world challenges in Malaysia and beyond.
